Personal Track Safety PTS (Initial)
2 Day course – Essential for any persons requiring to walk / work on or near the line
Course Aim
To instruct staff on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when working On or Near the Line.

The training will be delivered over 2 days for a maximum of 10 delegates
Objectives
At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate their ability to interpret correctly the Rule Book 8000 series or Personal Track Safety Handbook [TSH] and relevant local instructions when required to go ‘On or Near the Line’.
- Demonstrate their understanding and ability to follow a Safe System of Work.

Delivery
The course will be presented by approved trainers in the classroom using appropriate visual aids and supplemented by the MANDATORY trackside visit and assessment. Safety footwear, high visibility clothing and hard hats are mandatory for the course
Competence
The training will be followed by theory and practical assessments. Results will be forwarded by the training provider to the National Competency Control Agency [NCCA] for issue [to the sponsoring company] of a Sentinel Track Safety Card. A ‘Temporary Track Safety Certificate’ can be issued if required in accordance with Sentinel procedures/rules.
Entry Qualifications
Must meet the medical requirements detailed in Network Rail Specification NR/SP/CTM/021 Competence & Training in Track Safety. Meet the requirements for a negative pre employment drugs screen detailed in the current issue of NR/LI/OHS/051: Drugs and Alcohol
